MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Cloudy skies and rain will greet most of the country – including cities where anti-pork barrel protests are set – Monday, August 26, as tropical depression Nando moves just east of the country.

Nando was spotted 560 km east of Baler, Aurora, as of 4 am Monday, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center of the system, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The system is currently forecast to move towards the north northwest, at a speed of 15 km/h.

As Nando moves just off the country’s eastern coast, Bicol and Eastern Visayas are set to have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rain, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

These areas should be on the lookout for possible flash floods and landslides.

Visayas, Mindanao, and the regions of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.

The remaining areas of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain or thunderstorms, the bureau said.
