MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – An intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will be affecting the weather in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday, September 7.

In its 5 pm update, PAGASA said the ITCZ will bring in cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms in these areas, including the Bicol Region.

As of 11 pm, the bureau said thunderstorms are affecting the following areas – as well as nearby areas – which may persist for the next 1-2 hours:

  • Quezon
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Zamboanga Peninsula
  • Basilan
  • Davao del Sur
  • North Cotabato
  • Maguindanao
  • Sarangani
  • Surigao del Sur

All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods. Keep monitoring for updates,” the advisory said.

Coastal waters in extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to occassionally rough, with moderate to occassionally strong winds blowing from the northeast.
