MANILA, Philippines – Santi out, Tino in.

The state weather bureau expects this scenario on Sunday, October 13, as a storm named Tino is likely to enter the Philippine area of responsibility once typhoon Santi leaves.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tino is now moving at 15 km/h in a west-northwest direction.

It is not expected to enter the Philippines, and is likely to leave by Tuesday, October 15. It is not seen to make landfall.

PAGASA also doesn’t expect Santi and Tino to merge, but says the interaction between the two cyclones may stall the two.

The state weather bureau announced this on Friday, October 11, as it placed 7 areas under Signal No. 3 due to Santi.

PAGASA sees Santi leaving the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday. It expects Tino to be the 20th storm to enter the Philippines in 2013. –
