MANILA, Philippines – Many parts of the country can expect partly cloudy skies Monday, February 17, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Cooler temperatures will prevail in Luzon and the Visayas, with the presence of the northeast monsoon, or the amihan.

Meanwhile, southern Mindanao will be affected by the trough of a low pressure area, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast early Monday.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Caraga, while the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Luzon and the Visayas, on the other hand, should expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Prevailing winds will come from the east to northeast.

There are no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the bureau added.
