Tropical Storm Egay outside PAR

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Tropical Storm Egay (international name Linfa) has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), said the country’s state weather bureau on Tuesday, July 7.

All Public Storm Warning Signals have been lifted, according to the 9:30 am bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

However, flashfloods and landslides may still occur in Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Benguet, and the Ilocos region due to moderate to heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon.

Another strong weather system, Typhoon Chan-Hom, is expected to enter the PAR on Tuesday afternoon or evening, said PAGASA in its advisory.

Once inside the country, the typhoon will be given the local name, Falcon.

Chan-Hom was spotted 1,620 kilometers east of Luzon at 10 am, Tuesday. It was packing winds of 120 kilometers/hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 150 km/h. It will move west northwest at a speed of 20 km/h, said PAGASA. – Rappler.com
