With Luzon still being battered by Typhoon Rolly (Goni), another tropical cyclone entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, November 1.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in a bulletin released past noon on Sunday that the tropical storm with the international name Atsani entered PAR at 8 am.

It was given the local name Siony, as the Philippines’ 19th tropical cyclone for 2020. (READ: LIST: PAGASA’s names for tropical cyclones in 2020)

Siony is located 1,365 kilometers east of Central Luzon, moving west northwest at a relatively fast 30 kilometers per hour (km/h).

At the moment, the tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gustiness of up to 90 km/h. (READ: FAST FACTS: Tropical cyclones, rainfall advisories)

Fortunately, Siony “remains less likely to affect any portion of the country over the next 2 to 3 days,” according to PAGASA.

There are currently no tropical cyclone wind signals raised due to Siony and no rainfall warnings.
