Lanao del Sur gov’t gives aid to Muslim typhoon survivors in Albay

Bobby Lagsa

The provincial government of Lanao del Sur has sent aid to Muslim families in Albay who were affected by Super Typhoon Rolly.

Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr said the first wave of aid consists of 10 kilograms of rice each for 600 Muslim families in Legazpi, Tabaco, Ligao, Daraga, Guinobatan, and Polangui in Albay. He said they will also aid Muslim families in other affected provinces in Bicol.

“We need to continuously extend a helping hand to our brothers and who are in need, regardless of distance and location. It is our duty as Muslims to help in any way we can if we have the capacity to do so,” Adiong said.

Muslims outside Mindanao often do not get appropriate aid as food packs distributed for relief often contain pork. Their religion also requires that their food is halal.
