Dear Rappler readers,
The week started with Rappler Inc and Rappler Holdings Corporation filing a petition for review questioning the revocation of the entities' certificates of incorporation before the Court of Appeals. On the same day, ex-senator Bongbong Marcos says questionable marks in the ballot images of 12 towns in Camarines Sur and Negros Oriental indicate victory was stolen from him by Vice President Leni Robredo.
On Tuesday, the Philippine Senate continued its probe on the proliferation of fake news, attended by journalists, bloggers, civil society representatives, and government officials. A highlight of the hearing included the Senator Manny Pacquiao calling out Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy telling lies about him.
Rappler on Thursday submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation its counter-affidavit against a cyber libel complaint.
In other news, boxer Jerwin Ancajas tries to make his impact in the United States, beginning with his fourth title defense Saturday, February 3 (Sunday Manila time) when he meets Israel Gonzalez. Will he become the next big name in boxing after Manny Pacquiao? Watch out for the outcome of Jerwin's fight Sunday.
