Robredo goes full-on stage mom as daughter Tricia gets MD-MBA degree

Vice President Leni Robredo just can't help but take videos as her second daughter graduates from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health

There will soon be a doctor in the Robredo household – and Vice President Leni Robredo made sure she was able to capture every moment on video.

Tricia Robredo, the Vice President’s second daughter, officially obtained her joint MD-MBA degrees from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) on Tuesday, September 8.

The online event was called the Conferment of Degrees since ASMPH still plans to hold a separate graduation ceremony for Tricia’s batch once the coronavirus pandemic is over.

As Tricia officially received her degrees in a Zoom meeting, her mother sat near her daughter to take a video like the supportive mom that she is.

But the Vice President’s phone could be seen hovering beside Tricia’s face several times throughout the event. Tricia then made sure to poke fun at the Vice President.

“‘Oh my God Mama, ‘yong kamay mo. Naka video on tayo’ x 1000 this afternoon… I’d wear a terno to an online event for you any day lol. Love you so much,” the soon-to-be doctor said.

As expected, the Vice President turned “videographer” later posted one of the videos she took during Tricia’s special day.

Robredo said in a Facebook post how ASMPH had informed the graduates about the event only during the weekend. So she suggested that Tricia attend the ceremony while inside the Office of the Vice President in Quezon City so that even her two other daughters Aika and Jillian could tune in.

“Everything worked well. It was a very important milestone for all of us because we saw how Tricia defied all odds to reach this point,” Robredo said.

The Vice President also donned her stage mom hat back when her eldest daughter Aika graduated from the prestigious Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2018. (WATCH: Robredo’s vlog on daughter Aika’s Harvard graduation)

Not to be outdone by her older sisters, Robredo’s youngest child Jillian is currently taking up biomolecular science under a full scholarship at New York University.

There’s no doubt about it: Excellence runs deep in this clan. The family patriarch Jesse Robredo would surely be proud. – Rappler.com
