Nito lamang ika-17 ng Setyembre ay nirekomenda ng European Parliament na alisin ang Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status mula sa Pilipinas dahil sa malalang human rights situation sa ilalim ni Duterte.

Bakit dapat seryosohin ng gobyerno ito? Ayon kay Rivas:

The government should really take this seriously. The Philippines has not reached its export potential. I mean, we’re not even a large exporting country, di ba? And at the same time, we have so much talent. We’re a very rich country in terms of resources, talent. Tapos hindi natin mashe-share or mate-trade to other countries. The Duterte administration or any administration should take these threats very seriously kasi the impact of this pandemic, we will feel in the next half decade or even the next decade…
