[PODCAST] 2020: Ang pandemya at mga isyung hinarap ni Duterte

“Unprecedented health crisis” kung tawagin ng mga eksperto ang coronavirus pandemic. Ngunit ang mga talumpati ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kada Lunes ay hindi pa rin nagbabago’t puno pa rin ng mga pagmumura at pag-aalipusta sa oposisyon.

Repleksyon daw ito ng misplaced priorities ng Duterte administration, ayon sa mga kritiko, habang patuloy na humaharap pa rin sa malalaking kontrobersiya ang Pangulo dala ng kanyang mga aksyon.

Sa episode na ito, tatalakayin nina Rappler Malacañang beat reporter Pia Ranada at researcher-writer Jodesz Gavilan ang mga malalaking isyung hinarap ni Duterte ngayong 2020, at kung papaano naapektuhan ng pandemya ang paraan ng pamumuno ng Presidente.

Ayon kay Ranada, wala pang naipapakitang solusyon si Duterte na talagang magdadala ng malaking pagbabago sa sitwasyon:

We’re not seeing radical, creative, innovative solutions to the pandemic. Kumbaga, parang Duterte is not giving us that… decisive, kind of radical solution that will make a big impact. He does make crucial decisions but it gets bogged down by bureaucracy. And it’s sad also that Duterte himself, hindi niya masyadong nage-gets iyong bureaucratic backlog. For all his promises of like cutting red tape, I think to really do that, he needs to have a better understanding of the system itself.

Sadly, Duterte just does not have that grasp of those deep problems that need reform. And when I say reform, not just iyong rants niya about corrupt officials or officials taking too long to process some things. It’s not that kasi hindi iyon systematic. Pagagalitan mo iyong official but at the end of the day, what would really make the machine work better is if you fix the components di ba? The system. Make things more efficient. And I think so far Duterte has not shown any radical solutions, creative solutions to really turn the situation around. We’re just surviving.
