Mariing kinondena ng maraming Pilipino ang kakulangan ng paghahanda at pagresponde ng administrasyong Duterte sa mga biktima ng Typhoon Ulysses nitong nakaraang linggo.

Patuloy naman ang trabaho ni Vice President Leni Robredo kahit nanalasa pa ang bagyo sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Pilipinas. Ngunit imbes na siya ay pasalamatan, nakita siya bilang kakompetensya ng Pangulo.

Sa episode na ito, tatalakayin nina Rappler reporter Mara Cepeda, who covers the Office of the Vice President (OVP), at researcher-writer Jodesz Gavilan kung ano ang pagkakaiba sa disaster response ni Robredo at Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Ayon kay Cepeda, ang mga programa ni Robredo ay akma para punan ang kakulangan ng gobyerno:

Iyong OVP kasi, dine-design nila iyong program na hindi nagca-clash. Kasi filling in the gaps ang mindset ni VP Robredo. She identifies gaps in the ongoing government response to any calamity or the pandemic. Doon siya pumapasok. Hindi niya kinokontra na, ah ‘wag ito, because there’s also an acknowledgment on the part of Robredo that as Vice President, she’s part of the government. It’s not as if she wants to bring [about] the downfall of the government. When her office operates their relief efforts, programs, it’s because they’re boosting government efforts, not trying to bring them down and counter them. Of course, her critics will say otherwise.
