(READ: Delta COVID-19 cases in PH: What we know and what we don’t)

Siguro dapat ang mga LGUs should remind their citizens that the threat of the Delta variant should not be underestimated. A year-and-a-half really affects our well-being but people have to realize that if magiging kampante tayo now, mas magiging drastic ang consequences because baka mas lalo pa tayo mapunta sa worst kind of lockdown. Kausap nga natin si Dr Tony Leachon last week about whether Metro Manila is prepared for a lockdown and he said na the problem is, kulang tayo sa sense of urgency and kung maaga natin iprevent o mitigate ang risks of COVID-19 Delta variant, then it would be faster for us to get out of this situation.

I think the worst thing to happen is we waste another round of let’s say… we do heightened restrictions again, that we waste the time that is given, the allowance that is given, to beef up our response and to improve. Because it’s been more than a year and we really, if we waste [the lockdowns], we’re just in a spiral and we’ll just keep going back and forth. The same measures, that we’re not doing anything different. The effect of that is apparent now. Aside from that, one other thing that would be the worst case is that we don’t do anything at all. Because we’ve seen how Delta has really ravaged other countries and it would really be sad and really scary to see that happen here in the Philippines.
