Ordinary Filipinos have taken it upon themselves to help their fellow countrymen in need by putting up community pantries all over the Philippines.

Despite the kindness this movement inspired, some government officials still see red, calling these pantries as vehicles for communist propaganda.

Groups are hitting state forces for focusing their attention on community pantries, even if hundreds of Chinese vessels continue their stakeout in the West Philippine Sea.

On Thursday, April 29, the Newsbreak team will discuss the attacks against community pantries, the latest aggression by China in Philippine waters, and misplaced government priorities.

The discussion with Rappler news editor Paterno Esmaquel II and multimedia reporters Sofia Tomacruz, Dwight de Leon, and Jairo Bolledo will be moderated by Newsbreak Chats host and multimedia reporter Camille Elemia.
