Martial Law under the ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos is considered one of the darkest chapters in Philippine history, with widespread human rights violations and the country’s coffers plundered dry.

But just 35 years after the dictatorship was toppled by the People Power Revolution, the Marcos family is anything but shunned. In fact, the dictator’s only son and namesake Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is gunning for president in the 2022 elections.
