[PODCAST] KRIMINAL: The secret jail cell in Manila

It has been 4 years since the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) exposed the secret jail cell hidden in a Manila police station, shocking the Philippines and the world.

In February 2021, the Office of the Ombudsman cleared police of any wrongdoing in keeping the hidden detention area. According to the decision, the police had no “bad faith.”

For this episode of KRIMINAL, Rappler’s Rambo Talabong sits down with officers and investigators of the CHR who probed the police and followed up the case until today.

We ask them to recount how the case was investigated by the CHR and how it happened under the Duterte administration.
