PODCAST: Ace Durano on how legal hurdles bring out Grace Poe’s character

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections decision to cancel Senator Grace Poe’s certificate of candidacy, citing legal questions about her residency and citizenship, is providing traction to her campaign and testing her character and leadership, says Ace Durano, campaign manager of the Poe-Escudero team. 

Durano, a congressman and former tourism secretary, says these legal hurdles are giving her an opportunity to “shine” and a “platform for her advocacies.” 

There are “no other issues” against Poe thus her detractors persist in questioning these 2 basic qualifications, he points out.

In this interview, Rappler editor at large Marites  D. Vitug talks to Durano about the impact of the Comelec’s move on Poe’s campaign and the road ahead. This is Durano’s first try at running a national campaign. A scion of an influential political clan in Cebu, he has overseen regional (Visayas) and provincial campaigns.
