Highlights: 1st day of SC orals on Marcos burial
MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday, August 31, started hearing oral arguments on the cases filed against the planned burial of former president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The SC justices interpellated the lawyers representing groups of activists and Martial Law victims who filed a total of 6 petitions against the burial. (READ: Carpio: Can public funds be used for Marcos burial?)
In the afternoon session, Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno called on some victims of torture during Martial Law to speak before the court.
