[Rappler+ Webinar] Social dilemma: Where do we go from here?

Over the years, online companies have mastered the use of technology to influence and even alter user behavior. This made the online environment the perfect breeding ground for hate, violence, and disinformation, resulting in a world where “lies laced with anger and hate spread faster and further than boring facts.”

The offline consequences are catastrophic, with democracies around the world as the biggest casualties. 

As the coronavirus pandemic further upends the world as we know it, where do we go from here? How can governments, technology companies, and civil society organizations move forward together to rebuild the future?

On Tuesday, November 10, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa will be interviewing Center for Humane Technology co-founder Tristan Harris to answer questions from Rappler+ members related to this. 

Harris, in a 2019 interview with Rappler, shared ideas that could make Facebook better for society. He was also recently featured in The Social Dilemma, a documentary on Netflix that explores technology addiction, social engineering, and surveillance capitalism.
