Police detain captain, crew in deadly Indonesia ferry disaster

(UPDATED) Official estimates list 193 people missing as of Thursday morning, June 21, raising fears that the incident could become one of Indonesia's deadliest ferry disasters

Number missing in Indonesia ferry disaster jumps to nearly 180 –police

The situation sparks confusion – and different estimates from various agencies – about the number of people on board. Police say there are as many as 178 people missing, which if confirmed would make it one of Indonesia's worst maritime disasters.
