About Stacy De Jesus

Stacy is a pioneer in social media and online engagement strategies in the media industry.

At the age of 17, Stacy was awarded twice in Malacañang - first as one of the Ten Outstanding Public School Students in the Philippines for being an exemplary leader, and second as a Chief Girl Scout Medalist after facilitating the installation of the very first water system for a rural town in Negros Occidental.

Stacy took up Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and graduated Cum Laude in 2010. Soon after, she became the first project lead for GMA-7's news and public affairs social media accounts, its citizen journalism arm, and its digital newsgathering unit.

She has trained and talked to thousands of people from the academe, LGUs, NGOs, and civil society groups across the country about social media – with topics ranging from brand-building, technology for social good, social activism, and nowadays, awareness on disinformation. All accounts that she helped develop and establish are now a few of the most recognizable brands on social media in the Philippines for trailblazing digital practices.

Currently, she heads the Digital Communications and Civic Engagement (MovePH) units - both award-winning teams - for Rappler.com.
