Go where you want to be
And maybe, not by just clicking "Go" to post selfies.
As often as possible, walk the real world over the one on your screen.
Even without plaques, regalia or thoughts of karma
There are people who transform this world into something better,
reflecting and doing, without or despite the chatter.
Avoid people who call too much attention to themselves.
There is no way out for light to shine out in a hall of mirrors.
If you compare yourself with others,
know that all our journeys sprung from a common root 200,000 years ago.
Open up to consider others' tales.
Your life's length rests in the tail inside each of your cells
So before the tail runs out to tell your tales, do you Google a universe of infinity
or cultivate only a few but deeply?
Find work meaningful to you, it will open doors, revealing your own joy
But find time to bow to those who give more, doing work no one loves.
But let this not blind you to the fact that we are still moved
by suffering and excellence in human affairs.
We can still high five each other's souls to affirm our humanity.
Love and learn. With the vigor of the Sun's rage.
Unleashing powers that animate planets.
Alas, watch your world become better.
Stop lassoing time’s arrows
Your powers are not in the future, but here and now.
Find time to read and understand books, people, dogs, elephants and cats.
Knowing clings only to curricula but what you do with what you know extends life.
And passes on a learned kiss to nudge tomorrow for some
and once in a while, for all,
but always, for not just you.
Beyond a wholesome attitude, never stop asking why.
React with widened eyes if you were told not to ask why.
Allow yourself time to be still; busy bees have mere spunk
but time to make sense of your fussy life forms your spirit.
You are here and alive!
Deserve it. Inhabit your spacetime.
You have it, for now.
Whether or not you care about this thing called science, the universe
was here before you and it will be here long after you leave.
Find peace with your own humanity,
however worldly or transcendent it seems to be.
But let it grow.
With all the curses and red-blooded anger that stain our days and nights,
we hold our own stories of grit and triumph
in more splattered splendor.
And if we zoom out to hold a long deep view,
we come to know a universe that holds us all
and also takes our breath away
as it glows in painted lights across infinity.
Happy New Year.
