Why it's easier to see Pope Francis in Leyte
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – Rappler citizen journalist Derek Alviola reports it's easier to get close to Pope Francis in Leyte than in Manila. In Tacloban City, Rappler's Paterno Esmaquel finds out why.
They say if you want to get close to Pope Francis, you have to go to Leyte. And here's why.
This is where people will stand when Pope Francis passes by on January 17, and this is where Pope Francis will pass by.
Look, the roads here in Tacloban City are so narrow. And there are fewer people here - 2 million as opposed to 11 million in Metro Manila.
And not just that. Some roads are closed, which will limit the number of people who can attend the motorcade.
There are also more places to choose from here. This is an 11.5 kilometer route after all.
Well wherever you choose to be when the Pope comes, just make sure youre safe, and you make other people safe as well.
