Van Opstal to miss UAAP season to rehab injury – source
De La Salle University big man Arnold Van Opstal will miss the 2015 season of the UAAP to rehabilitate an Achilles tendon injury

MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University big man Arnold Van Opstal will miss the 2015 UAAP season to rehabilitate an injured Achilles tendon in the United States.

The news was confirmed to Rappler by a source who was in communication with Green Archers head coach Juno Sauler during a university gathering.

Van Opstal, who played 13 games in Season 77, averaging 8 points and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes according to pba-online.net, sustained the injury during UAAP and D-League action last season.

Van Opstal, the 2013 UAAP Most Improved Player of the Year, will be a huge loss for the Green Archers who won’t have the services of center Norbert Torres this season as well.

Torres finished his 5 years of playing eligibility last UAAP season.

With Van Opstal out, DLSU will rely on bigs Jason Perkins and Abu Tratter, as well as small ball big Prince Rivero.

A text message sent to Sauler for confirmation has not been responded to as of posting time. – Rappler.com
