Philippines finishes Olympic run, still no medals
Caluag was eliminated from the quarterfinals of the BMX men's event after he finished last in his heat with 29 points. Only the top four of each heat advance to the semifinals.
The Fil-Am biker was the last of the 11 athletes to compete for Team Philippines, the smallest delegation the country has sent since 1936. This is the 4th straight Olympics that the Philippines has failed to bring home a medal of any color.
Boxer Onyok Velasco was the last to win a medal for the country when he brought home the silver medal from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics for men's light flyweight boxing (Read infographic on Olympic medals won by the Philippines).
Of the 11 athletes in London, light flyweight boxer Mark Barriga went the furthest in the Philippines' quest for an Olympic medal. Barriga made it through the first round after he convincingly defeated Italian Manuel Cappai.
But Barriga's dreams ended soon after when Kazakhstan's Birzhan Zhakypov bested Barriga in the round of 16.
Barriga was the sole athlete who made it past the initial round of competition.
Runner Rene Herrera registered his personal best of 14:44.11 in the 5000m run, but still finished last overall.
Torres underperformed in the long jump missing her personal best significantly and the chance to make the finals, while Diaz was disqualified after she was unable to complete her clean and jerk in the women's 48-kg weightlifting event.
