Pacquiao fight in November or December?

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao can’t seem to make up his mind.

After it was widely reported that he was pushing back the date of his next fight from November 10 to December 1, now his close adviser Michael Koncz says that the first date is still being considered.

Koncz told BoxingScene that the initial December postponement was due to a “scheduling conflict connected to Pacquiao’s political carreer.”

That issue seems to be fixed, and HBO Pay-Per-View also seems to have a problem with December 1, likely because it is the same day of Miguel Cotto’s anticipated return at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“It’s not so much the political end, there are issues with the December 1 date (…) a television issue and that’s the problem, so that’s what we’re trying to work out,” Koncz said, according to the same report.

Pacquiao’s adviser is supposed to meet Top Rank CEO Bob Arum next week to finalize the date for the fight.

Cotto, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and WBO 140-pound champion Juan Manuel Marquez are all being considered to be Pacquiao’s rival either in November or December at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

A less likely candidate is longtime nemesis Floyd Mayweather Jr., recently released from jail, as Pacquiao himself revealed on Thursday. – Rappler.com
