
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The De La Salle University Lady Spikers drew first blood in the UAAP Finals and pushed the Ateneo Lady Eagles to the brink of elimination with a dominant 3-set win in Game 1, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 on Saturday, April 23, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Kim Dy led all DLSU scorers with 15 points while Mika Reyes scored 13 (6 spikes, 6 blocks, one ace). Ara Galang and Mary Joy Baron pitched in as well with 10 points each.
Kim Fajardo recorded 39 sets, while Ateneo’s Jia Morado finished with 40.
Alyssa Valdez was the only Lady Eagle in double-figures with 17 points.
It was an impressive win for DLSU, which rallied from 7-1 and 21-18 deficits in the first two sets, respectively, and dominated throughout the third set to sweep the defending champions for a second time this season.
