SINGAPORE, Singapore – On October 6, 2012, Asia’s premiere Mixed Martial Arts fixture returns to action. The One Fighting Championship (OneFC) features the regions toughest warriors well-versed in various disciplines battling out for supremacy.

The recently concluded OneFC MMA card dubbed “OneFC: Pride of a Nation” took place at the Araneta Coliseum last August 31 and it played host to a large contingent of Pinoy MMA fighters including Honorio Banario, Kevin Belingon, Eric Kelly and Eduard Folayang.

Lightweights: Shinya Aoki (Japan) versus Arnaud Lepont (France)

This Saturday, the action returns to Singapore in an exciting card headlined by the Shinya Aoki – Arnaud Lepont Lightweight Superfight. It’s Japan versus France in the main event as the two combatants look to wow the crowd with some high-octane action and killer moves.

No one expects this matchup to go to the cards due to both fighters’ penchant for ending fights early.

Shinya Aoki is perhaps the deadliest submission artist in this part of the world and could entangle Lepont with a fight-ending submission should he grab a hold of a limb or two in the early going.

Lepont on the other hand, has tremendously heavy hands and a crazy ferociousness that’s as ruthless as it is swift. Lepont has won his last 6 fights by stoppage, including his recent OneFC debut against Brian Choi.

Bantamweight Grand Prix: Kevin Belingon (Philippines) versus Yusup Saadulaev (Russia)

Also on the card is Filipino Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, who if you could recall dropped a Unanimous Decision to Korean opponent Soo Chul Kim in Manila. It was a great effort from Belingon, who tried his hardest to come back in the final rounds of the fight after falling behind early on points.

Belingon fought back valiantly and even managed to dominate the 3rd round but it was simply too little, too late. He gets his chance to get back in the ‘win’ column again this Saturday against Russian Yusup Saadulaev. The fight is a part of the Bantamweight Grand Prix which pits six of the division’s best combatants in a mini tournament for the One FC Bantamweight title.

It will be an awesome stand-up affair as both fighters are highly aggressive and possess knockout ability. Saadulaev will want to impose his tenacity onto Belingon early, who has a tendency to take some time to get into the groove of things and often starts late.

If Saadulaev can work his Filipino opponent from the get-go and tally the first 2 rounds, Belingon will once again have an uphill battle on the cards. What Belingon must do is go on the offensive quickly as this truly is a pick ’em fight. Anyone can win at any given moment.

An Awesome Night of Mixed Martial Arts

Fans can indeed look forward to an amazing display of Mixed Martial Arts as always, brought to you by the One FC. Come by the Singapore Indoor Stadium and watch the fights with Rappler and cheer on for our Filipino entrant Kevin Belingon as he competes to march on in the Bantamweight Grand Prix.

From the opening ceremonies to the final bell, this fight card promises all-out MMA action and will not be something you would want to miss. Mixed Martial Arts cards are generally action-packed and the One FC produces it in a truly world-class package.

Mixed Martial Arts has become mainstream in recent years, following its shady past and previously bad reputation. A lot of things have changed since then, primarily its rules and regulations which have been tweaked to promote the safety of fighters inside the cage. It’s no longer just a street fight in there, now technique and science play a huge role in deciding the outcome of a fight. -Rappler.com
