MANILA, Philippines – Fans of Chris Tiu will have to wait much longer before they can see the rookie guard hit the court again as he aggravated a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for up to 8 weeks.

Tiu delivered the ‘bad news’ to his fans via micro-blogging site Twitter. He said he will be out for approximately 4 to 8 weeks due to a hamstring injury.

He was already suffering from the same injury in the off-season and could not fully join Rain or Shine’s practices until about a week before the season started.

The former Smart-Gilas Pilipinas captain’s first pro game with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters was cut short after aggravating his injury in the second quarter of their match against Petron Blaze Boosters. He played for 6 minutes and scored 2 points and dished out 2 assists.

It was also the debut game of Petron’s 2012 top draft pick Junemar Fajardo. He tallied 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Rain or Shine went on to win the game, 102-86, despite losing Tiu to injury. – Rappler.com
