MANILA, Philippines – The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) kicked off the build-up to its second live Philippine event dubbed “Fight Night Manila 2” by spearheading an on-sale press conference at Conrad Hotel in Pasay City on Wednesday, August 17.

BJ Penn and Ricardo Lamas were the event’s main attraction as both men will face each other in the main event of UFC Fight Night Manila 2, which takes place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on October 15.

“For me, it’s all about creating memories that I can pass on to my son and grandchildren. Now, one of the memories I’ll be able to pass on is the new ‘Thrilla in Manila’ with the two-division champion BJ Penn,” Lamas said.

Also in attendance for the on-sale press conference was retired Filipino-American fighter Mark Muñoz, who talked about the importance of wrestling in mixed martial arts and plans to bring his anti-bullying campaign in the Philippines.

Muñoz currently serves as the company’s “Philippine ambassador” and will be taking part in a number of press engagements to promote the sport and the fight card.
