LeBron James set for return to Manila

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – LeBron James, the 4-time NBA MVP and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar, is set to make his third visit to Manila from September 8-9, Nike confirmed on Thursday, September 1.

The visit of the NBA superstar is being labelled as the LeBron James Tour Manila 2016. Per Nike’s press release, James “will be here to inspire Filipino fans and basketball players to battle and conquer their doubts the way he did on the way to winning for Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years.”

James is coming off a superb NBA season where he led the Cavaliers to their first title in franchise history by rallying the team past a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

James, who had 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in the Game 7 clincher, was named Finals MVP.

One of the biggest events during James’ visit will be the “Battle the Doubt Bootcamp,” a one-day basketball camp which will have professional Nike coaches and athletes. Those who will participate in the camp will be from “selected schools and teams of different barangays, and a selection from the digital challenge,” according to Nike.

The main event of James’ visit will take place on the evening of Thursday, September 8, with the “LeBron James Battle the Doubt Night” at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

According to Nike, the event will feature an appearance from James himself and “promises a night of inspiration from some of the bets basketball players in the Philippines.” – Rappler.com
