MANILA, Philippines – They don’t call him “Big” for nothing.
Big Show made an impact on the Manila crowd – and ring – during his match against John Cena at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday, September 9. It was World Wrestling Entertainment’s first live event in Manila in 7 years, and Big Show made sure fans wouldn’t forget at least one thing about their match.
As Big Show went for a Vader Bomb, or a corner splash from the second rope, when the 7-foot, over 400-pound wrestler snapped the rope and came crashing down. Cena, ever the professional, played the occurrence as best he could, delivering his trademark “5-Knuckle Shuffle” on the fallen Big Show.
The match continued on with only two ropes, with Big Show missing his WMD punch and falling into Cena’s clutches for the Attitude Adjustment and the 3 count. An intermission was ordered to repair the ring for the rest of the matches. Video of the occurrence quickly went viral.
