MANILA, Philippines – The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters kept their hopes of a playoff seed alive by defeating the Star Hotshots, 108-97, on Friday, September 16, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The victory gave Rain or Shine a 5-6 record to end the PBA Governors’ Cup elimination round, setting up a knockout game against the Phoenix Fuel Masters, who have the same record, for the final remaining ticket in the postseason.
Import Joshua Dollard led the Elasto Painters with 27 points and 14 rebounds while Paul Lee added 11 points and 5 assists off the bench. Beau Belga also played well with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
Star, which ended the conference with a 2-9 record, was led by the 27 points and 10 rebounds of Joel Wright. PJ Simon added 15 points and 4 dimes in the losing effort.
