North Korea tops Azkals in friendly match

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals dropped their second straight friendly at home as North Korea prevailed, 1-3, in a rain-soaked match Monday, October 10 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, Philippines.

Pak Kwang Ryong kicked off the scoring at the ’10 mark while Pak Song Chol added another at ’38. The blowout continued in the second half as Jong Il Gwan made it 0-3 before substitution Iain Ramsay scored to make it 1-3. The Fil-Australian Ramsay also scored as a substitute in the Azkals’ 3-2 victory over North Korea in March.

The Azkals were without striker Misagh Bahadoran, who injured himself in the Azkals’ 1-3 loss to Bahrain on Friday.

The Philippines is currently tuning up for the 2016 Suzuki Cup, which gets underway November 19 with the Azkals facing Singapore at Philippine Sports Stadium. –
