Fil-Am Mark Striegl gets new opponent for comeback bout
Striegl is set to square off with Bulgarian combatant Sotir Kichuhov on the undercard of ONE Championship’s 'Age of Domination' event on December 2

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American fighter Mark Striegl will have a new opponent for his return to active competition as he is set to square off with Bulgarian combatant Sotir Kichuhov on the undercard of ONE Championship’s “Age of Domination” event on December 2.

Striegl was supposed to face Rafael Nunes, but the Brazilian standout pulled out of the bout due to undisclosed reasons.

ONE Championship found a replacement in Kichuhov, who locks horns with Striegl in a 3-round catchweight contest.

Striegl has been out of action since December 2015 when he suffered a painful third-round submission loss at the hands of Filipino-Australian stalwart Reece McLaren.

The 28-year-old from Baguio City was supposed to make his comeback earlier this year, but his layoff was extended after he contracted bronchitis.

Striegl made his promotional debut under the ONE Championship banner in April 2015 by submitting Casey Suire via first-round rear-naked choke.

The 5-foot-8 “Mugen” established himself as one of the top Filipino mixed martial arts competitors with stints in different organizations across the Asian region such as Pacific Xtreme Combat, Legend FC and Ultimate Reality Combat Championship, to name a few.

In addition, he holds an impressive prizefighting record of 14-2, with 12 wins coming by submission.

Meanwhile, Kichuhov (13-4) is suffering from a two-fight losing skid and was last seen inside the ONE Championship cage when he yielded to Yusup Saadulaev via second-round submission in September 2015.

Kichuhov has only gone the distance thrice in his 13 wins, owning 8 submission victories and 3 knockout triumphs.

ONE: Age of Domination takes place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. – Rappler.com
