MANILA, Philippines – The GlobalPort Batang Pier’s dynamic duo of Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo led the team in scoring during a 91-84 victory over the Star Hotshots on Friday, December 2, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Pringle had a game-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go with 3 rebounds while Romeo accounted for 18 points in addition to 8 assists. KG Canaleta also pitched in, scoring 12 points off the bench on 50% shooting.
It was the second win in as many games to open the 2016-2017 PBA season by GlobalPort, who dropped the new-look Hotshots to a 0-2 record.
Marc Pingris led Star with 19 points and 8 boards while Aldrech Ramos had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Paul Lee struggled with only 9 points on 2-of-9 shooting plus 4 turnovers.
The Batang Pier raced off a 29-8 advantage after one quarter, and held on the rest of the way.
GlobalPort shot 48% from the floor and connected on 8-of-22 from deep, making up for 21 turnovers.
