MANILA, Philippines- The Philippines added two more medals to its bronze collection in the 29th Southeast Asian Games courtesy of Cebuana golfer Lois Kaye Go and trackster Mervin Guarte.

Lois Kaye Go, 18, picked up a bronze for the Philippines in the women’s golf individual stroke play on Thursday, August 24 at the Mines Resort and Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Go, who currently attends Boston College, finished at 4-under-par with a score of 209 to give the national golf team its first medal in the biennial meet.

She trailed behind two Thai competitors, Jeen Atthaya Thitikul (14-under-par, 199) and Thitapa Pakdeesettakul (7-under-par, 206), who brought home the gold and silver respectively.

Meanwhile, Mervin Guarte also landed on the platform in the men’s 1500 meter dash event on Thursday afternoon.

Guarte, a product of San Sebastian College in the NCAA, finished the race at 3:53.68 to win the 1500m bronze- a day after missing out on a podium finish in the 800 meter event.

The 25-year-old Guarte followed behind Vietnam’s Duong Van Thai, who clocked in 3:51.44 for the gold, and Thailand’s Yothin Yaprajan, who registered 3:53.41 to snag the silver.-Rappler.com
