New sports complex soon to rise in Cebu
The soon-to-rise sporting complex has an area of more than 12,000 square meters and will house two FIFA-standard size playing facilities, one outdoor and one indoor, as well as other facilities

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The lack of sporting facilities in Cebu City will soon be alleviated with the rise of a new sports complex at the South Road Properties to be undertaken by the Dynamic HERB Sports Inc.

Cebu has always been at the forefront of Philippine sports contributing athletes to the national team who have made the country proud, not only in local and national events but also in international competitions.

The city, however, does not really have state-of-the-art sporting facilities. All it has are the Cebu City Sports Center and the New Cebu Coliseum, which have served Cebuanos for decades, and the grounds and gyms of universities and colleges.

The soon-to-rise sporting complex has an area of more than 12,000 square meters and will house two FIFA-standard size playing facilities, one outdoor and one indoor. It will have an outdoor playing field, an indoor gymnasium, and dedicated facilities such as rooms for teams, clubs, and sporting organizations to hold seminars and workshops or discuss trainings.

The complex will also have shower rooms and lockers for players to go directly to after training.

“We want to contribute to the lifestyle, tourism, and sports in Cebu,” said the managing director of Dynamic HERB Sports Inc., Ugur Tasci.

Tasci added that they are building the facility because they also wanted create an opportunity for Cebu to host not only local sporting events but national and international competitions as well.

Although the playing fields’ measurement is that of football, the fields, however, will be multi-purpose. Aside from football, the outdoor playing field which will be an artificial turf can also cater to other sports such as rugby, flag football and frisbee. The indoor gymnasium will be equipped with Taraflex flooring and can host futsal, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, and handball sessions.

The complex will also have a jogging path for runners.

Tasci said they will start installing the artificial turf by December and hopefully the whole sports complex will be done by July of next year.

The Dynamic HERB Sports Inc. has a team of experts – contractors, architects and designers – for the project who will be crafting the place from container vans.

According to Astrid Erasga, Dynamic HERB Sports Inc.’s marketing and communications executive, their team will make sure that people will not even recognize that the materials used for the building are container vans.

The soon-to-rise sports complex can be rented by various sports academy teams who have no place to train, as well as organizers of sporting events. The place will be equipped with bleachers which can sit about 500 spectators. There will also be a sports bar which will serve food and drinks and wherein a live telecast of sporting events can be viewed.

“This is a sports facility that Cebu deserves. We are not competing with any other region but giving Cebu the opportunity to enjoy and experience a complex such as this—where athletes and sports lovers can come play and gather their friends and family for leisure and recreation,” said Tasci in a press release.

According to Tasci, they are also hoping to someday tap the Cebu City Sports Commission to make the venue a training ground for future athletes who can represent the Philippines in international events. – Rappler.com
