MANILA, Philippines – The Arellano University Lady Chiefs made quick work of the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-23, 26-24, 25-14, to take Game 1 of their battle-for-third clash in the PVL Collegiate Conference at the Arena in San Juan Wednesday, Oct. 11.

With the third set tied at 3-all, Arellano ignited a 12-3 run, capped by back-to-back hits from Mary Anne Esguerra and a Jovielyn Prado kill, to pull away for good, 15-6.

Prado was too hot to handle for the Lady Falcons as she fired a game-high 18 points, built on 13 attacks, 3 aces and 2 blocks, while Esguerra added 9 markers.

Andrea Marzan made her presence felt for Arellano with 15 points while Necole Ebuen chipped in 10 in the win.

“Napaghandaan lang talaga namin ‘yung game ngayon against Adamson. Mas maganda lang siguro ang gising namin at natiyaga lang sila ngayon,” said Arellano coach Obet Javier. (We just came prepared against Adamson in this game. Maybe we just had a better day and we worked hard to win this.)

Adamson badly missed the services of star Jema Galanza, who suffered an ankle injury in the middle of the season, as no Lady Falcon scored in double figures.

Mary Joy Dacoron topscored for Adamson with 9 points.

Game 2 will be held on Saturday, October 14, at the same venue. –
