Judges in Donaire fight have ‘good eyesight’ – Palace

MANILA, Philippines – Taking an indirect jab on the judges in the controversial defeat of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao last June, Malacanang cited the judges of the recently concluded fight of Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr for having “good eyesight.”

The judges of the bout between Donaire and South African standout Jeffrey Mathebula on Saturday, July 7 (Sunday in Manila) scored a unanimous win for Donaire, popularly referred to as “The Next Manny Pacquiao.”

In an interview on Sunday, July 8, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said, “Congratulations to Mr. Donaire [for winning after] all the 12 rounds…It seems that the judges now have good eyesight and unanimously decided in favor of Nonito Donaire.”

“It’s good there is no controversy now,” she added, referring to the controversial defeat of Pacquiao, a world favorite in boxing, to Bradley last month. – Rappler.com
