MANILA, Philippines – There is a reason Barangay Ginebra is considered a powerhouse team and head coach Tim Cone believes it is just a matter of time until they snap out of their slump. 

The Gin Kings, after notching their first win of the Commissioner’s Cup last week, returned to their losing ways following a 98-103 double overtime defeat to the Phoenix Fuel Masters on Sunday, May 20. 

It was Ginebra’s 3rd defeat in 4 games but Cone is not pressing the emergency button this early. 

“I always believe that cream rises or will rise to the top. And I know we’re a cream part of the league,” said Cone. 

“So we will rise, and we got to make it rise. But we’re confident that we’re going to come back and win a few games.” 

Cone also notes how his wards fought back from a 16-point deficit and almost won the game as a sign of progress. 

“A lot of things to be upset about. But at least the guys didn’t quit, they kept battling, and got back in the game, so you appreciate that.”

“But we got to get better,” added the champion tactician. 

With Ginebra enjoying a two-week break due to the All-Star Week, Cone said they will gear up for a tough schedule that starts with games against the Meralco Bolts on June 1 and the San Miguel Beermen on June 3.
