MANILA, Philippines – The Marinerong Pilipino Skippers breezed past the hapless Batangas-EAC Generals with an emphatic 106-64 win in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena on Monday, June 18.

Marinerong Pilipinas banked on a balanced scoring attack with 5 players finishing in double figures in a game that saw the Skippers pull away for good as early as the first quarter. 

Robbie Manalang finished with 20 points off 4 triples while Travis Jackson chipped in 19 markers as Marinerong Pilipino, which already held a 26-15 advantage after the maiden period, used a 12-0 run in the second quarter for a 38-15 cushion.

Batangas kicked off the 3rd frame on a 15-2 blitz, punctuated by 3 straight baskets from Cedrick De Joya, to trim its deficit to 44-57. But the Skippers countered with a 10-0 spurt to restore order and enjoyed a comfortable 67-44 lead. 

A 19-4 run early in the final period sealed the game for Marinerong Pilipino as its lead grew to 39 points, 93-54. 

Javi Gomez de Liaño and Abu Tratter chalked up 10 points apiece while Jorey Napoles notched a double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds in the win. 

De Joya was the lone Generals player in double digits with a 19-point effort. Clark Derige and Clark Bautista scored 8 apiece in the loss.
