MANILA, Philippines – Calvin Abueva apologized to Ray Parks, but refused to say sorry to his girlfriend Maika Rivera following their on-court incident in a 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup game between Phoenix and Blackwater.

Parks alleged Abueva gestured like he’s jerking off and called Rivera a “b**ch” after incurring his final foul late in the Fuel Masters’ 103-98 win over the Elite on Friday, May 31.

In his defense, Abueva said it was Rivera who started it by saying “f**k you” to him. (READ: Abueva defends action towards Parks’ girlfriend: ‘Ako ba nauna?’)

“Para kay Rayray Parks, bro, sa’yo lang ako magso-sorry dahil alam ko naging okay naman tayo. But I don’t know your girlfriend, hindi ako ang nag-umpisa, siya,” Abueva said on a live video on his Instagram. 

(To Rayray Parks, bro, I’m saying sorry to you because we’re okay before. But I don’t know your girlfriend, I didn’t start it, she did.) 

“I apologize to you, Rayray Parks. Nag-apologize ako kay Rayray Parks, pero sa girlfriend niya, this is not my fault na nangyari ‘yun. Sa kaniya ‘yun.” 

(I apologize to you, Rayray Parks. I apologized to Rayray Parks, but to his girlfriend, this is not my fault why that happen. This is on her.) 

Abueva said he only returned the favor to Rivera. 

“Dumaan ako sa kanila na wala akong ano. Nag-standing position pa sila. Nagtayuan pa po sila at nagpalakpakan. And then, ‘Tignan niyo ‘yung score, kung anong score.’ And then sabi sa akin, ‘Ba-bye f**k you.’” 

(I passed by them without doing anything. They stood up and clapped. I said, ‘Look at the score.’ Then she told me, ‘Bye, f**k you.’)

“Kaya sabi ko, ‘Wow.’ Pagdating ko sa bench, ‘Wow, sino ‘yun? Gigil ako doon ah.’ Lahat ng mga teammates ko alam po nila ‘yan kung anong ginawa at nakita po ng asawa ko na nagseseniyasan pa siya, sign sign.”

(So I was like, ‘Wow.’ When I got to the bench, I said, ‘Wow, who’s that? I’m pissed off by her.’ All of my teammates and my wife saw that she was doing these signs.) 

“Doon po ako nadala sa kaniya na, ‘Okay, panalo kami, oh ito ka.’ Na parang, ‘Okay panalo kami.’ Kung mang-aasar ka, binalik ko lang ang pang-aasar ko sa kaniya. Binalik ko lang.”

(That’s when I blew my top like, ‘We won, take this.’ She trash talked me so I also trash talked her.) 

“Ang akin, oo nabastos siya, pero nabastos rin po ako. Wala naman po ako ginagawa. Oo, babae siya, pero dapat tignan niya rin kung sinong binabastos niya.” 

(She was disrespected but I was disrespected as well. I didn’t do anything. Yes, she’s a girl, but she should also think who she’s disrespecting.) 

Abueva also called out Barangay Ginebra veteran Sol Mercado, who replied to Parks’ tweet and said he was “not surprised either” by the way Abueva acted. 

That’s unfortunate bro… it’s sad to say I’m not surprised either, u have every right to be upset let @riveramaika97 know to not let him ruin her night. Focus y’all energy on better things. He’s not even worth it! Big hugs  to the lady
