Green Archers spoil Mendiola debut in PFL for second straight win
The Green Archers break a first-half deadlock with 4 goals in the second half

MANILA, Philippines – The Green Archers United gave Philippine Football League (PFL) debutants Mendiola FC a rude welcome with an emphatic 5-1 rout at the PFF Training Center in Carmona, Cavite, on Sunday, June 2.

After a tightly contested first half that ended in a 1-1 deadlock, the Green Archers went on an offensive onslaught as they buried Mendiola with 4 goals in the final 45 minutes for their second straight win.

Mendiola went toe-to-toe against their much-favored foe after midfield dynamo Rey De La Torre fired the equalizer at the 38th minute, but the game slipped out of their control when the floodgates opened for the Green Archers.

Val Jurao and Floriano Pasilan Jr found the back of the net at the 53rd and 58th minutes, respectively, before Kim Kyoon (64′) and John Celiz (90+3′) put the nails in the coffin.

Mendiola hope to pick up their first-ever points in the PFL against fellow cellar-dwellers Philippine Air Force next weekend. The match will be streamed at pfltv.ph. – Ferdin Sanchez/Rappler.com
