Fresh off Pringle trade, NorthPort rallies from 25 down to stun Rain or Shine
NorthPort ties TNT on top after clinching its third straight win and sixth overall in 7 games

MANILA, Philippines – NorthPort did not crumble even on the face of a 25-point hole and stunned Rain or Shine in overtime, 107-105, in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, June 19.

Mo Tautuaa and Robert Bolick came through in crunchtime as the eight-man strong Batang Pier claimed a share of the lead in the team standings in the wake of the trade of superstar Stanley Pringle.

Clinching its third straight win and sixth overall in 7 games, NorthPort tied TNT at the top of the rankings.

Bolick, who finished with 22 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds, sent the game to an extra period with a clutch three-pointer before giving the Batang Pier a 104-102 lead with 1:40 minutes left by sinking a contested layup.

Tautuaa, who delivered a career-high 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, then knocked down a triple with less than 30 seconds left as NorthPort gained a 107-102 advantage.

The Elasto Painters had a chance to either force a second overtime or steal the victory after Denzel Bowles pulled them within 2 points off a trey and after Prince Ibeh missed 4 straight free throws for the Batang Pier.

However, Bowles failed to call a timeout after hauling down a defensive rebound with 6 ticks left and saw his shot from halfcourt fall short.

Garvo Lanete had 16 points off 5 three-pointers, Sean Anthony added 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Paolo Taha added 12 points and 5 assists in the win.

Bowles delivered 41 points, 21 rebounds, and 6 assists, but failed to get things done when it mattered most as he missed two free throws late in the 4th period that would have secured the victory for Rain or Shine.

Javee Mocon flirted with a triple-double of 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in the losing effort, while Ed Daquioag and Kris Rosales had 12 and 10 points, respectively.
