Pascal Siakam, who helped the Toronto Raptors capture their maiden NBA championship, becomes the first player in franchise history to win the award

MANILA, Philippines – Pascal Siakam put the finishing touch on his best NBA season to date by winning the Most Improved Player plum in the 2019 NBA Awards on Monday, June 24 (Tuesday, June 25, Philippine time).

The 25-year-old Cameroonian, who helped the Toronto Raptors capture their maiden NBA championship, bested Brooklyn Nets’ D’Angelo Russell and Sacramento Kings’ De’Aaron Fox.

Averaging single digit in points in his first two years, Siakam raised his game to a new level in the past season and normed 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. 


He became the first player in Raptors history to win the award. 

Russell averaged 21.1 points, 7.0 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals; while Fox had per game counts of 17.3 points, 7.3 assists, and 1.6 steals. – Rappler.com
