Boxers from across the country were recognized at the 12th Elorde awards.
MANILA, Philippines – It was a night of celebration.
The room was filled with the best Filipino boxers, recognized for their achievements in the sport Sunday, March 25, at the 12th Elorde awards. Ana Julaton, Donnie Nietes, Brian Viloria and Nonito Donaire were named Boxers of the Year, while over 60 champions were also feted for their wins.
Manny Pacquiao, who was the guest of honor and guest speaker, was also given a special ‘Man for Others’ award. On what would have been the 77th birthday of boxing great Gabriel ‘Flash’ Elorde, fans and fighters were reminded of the bright future of Philippine boxing. Natashya Gutierrez reports. – Rappler.com
