NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand — Ready for battle.

After leaving the Philippines with a promise to start reviving the country’s volleyball program, the national women’s volleyball team arrived here Wednesday night, September 11 to participate in the upcoming Asian Volleyball Championships.

The Power Pinays travelled a total of 6 hours to get from Manila to this bustling northeastern city, but would definitely get no down time as their jampacked schedule fires off Thursday, September 12.

The national team — ranked 16th in the AVC — begins training at 9:00am before plunging back into preparation in the afternoon for their match against 11th-ranked India on Friday, September 13.

An upset is in the PLDT Fibr-backed Power Pinays’ sights as they attempt to make waves in this biennial meet that the country has missed for the past 8 years.

The final competition roster will be announced today, as only 12 of the 17 volleybelles sent here will make the last cut. – Rappler.com
