MANILA, Philippines — The younger brother rises, too.

Ateneo de Manila University juniors star Thirdy Ravena topped all UAAP high school players in Season 76, running away with the Most Valuable Player plum after emerging with the highest Statistical Points (SPs) at the end of the elimination round on Friday, September 13.

In a final ranking sent by Imperium Technologies on Saturday, September 14 Ravena amassed a total of 79.5714 points to edge 3 National University and one Adamson University high school stalwarts in the 76th UAAP juniors basketball tournament.

Ravena’s Blue Eaglets finished second to the Bullpups in the double-round elimination with an 11-3 record. NU swept it with 14 straight wins and advanced straight to the championship round with a thrice-to-beat advantage.

Ravena, the younger brother of Blue Eagles superstar Kiefer, normed 18.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals while making 47.1% of his field-goals and 56.5% of his free-throw shots in 14 outings.

Bullpups Mark Dyke and John Cauilan finished second and third, respectively, with 74.7143 and 65.8333 SPs, in order.

Reinier Quinga of Adamson University was 4th with 64.8571 SPs while NU’s Hubert Cani rounded up the top 5 with an SP output of 63.7143.

Ravena’s teammate Mike Nieto, De La Salle Zobel’s Henri Subido, University of the Philippines Integrated School duo Diego Dario and Raymart Sablan and Junior Archer Alfonso Banzon complete the top 10 players of the tournament. –
