MANILA, Philippines – Every season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) games has its share of dramatic moments, especially in the popular men’s basketball category. This 76th season was no different, with many moments captured in memes.

Here are some of the best memes of the highlights of the season.

Before the season began, rumors swirled that long-time University of Santo Tomas coach Pido Jarencio would be leaving his team behind and signing on as interim coach for the Philippine Basketball Association’s Barako Bulls. Plans fell through, however, and Jarencio announced he was staying. Netizens, of course, had a thing or two to say about the issue.

The basketball rivalry between the Ateneo de Manila and De La Salle universities may go deep, but this man has school spirit for both. An unlikely mascot for peace?

In one of the most heated moments of the season, Ateneo coach Bo Perasol got involved in an altercation with La Salle fan JJ Atayde, leading to a one-game suspension for Perasol. Which side were you on?   

After bagging the championships for 5 consecutive years, Ateneo failed to enter this year’s semi-finals. Tons of “6-peat” memes are out there, but none seems as heartrending for Blue Eagles fans as this one. 

This one doesn’t need much explanation. 

A scuffle occurred between UST’s Jeric Teng and National University’s Joeffrey Javillonar after Javillonar was accused of intentionally hurting Teng mid-game. The truth is anybody’s guess at this point.

Speaking of Teng, his brother Jeron plays for UST’s main competition this season, the DLSU Green Archers. 

Who’s a proud poppa? 

Despite all the fuss over the Tengs, Far Eastern University’s Terrence Romeo bagged this season’s Most Valuable Player award – and FEU was not even in the finals.
